What Actually Happens in a Human Design Reading

A reading isn't a performance and it isn't a download. It's an hour spent on how your energy is actually built, and the parts of it you can test the same week.

It starts with your data, not your story

Before we speak, I calculate your chart from three things: your birth date, the time on the certificate, and the place. That's it. No questionnaire, no personality test, nothing you have to self-report.

That matters more than it sounds. Most tools that claim to tell you how you work ask you to describe how you work first, then hand your description back to you in a nicer font. A chart doesn't do that. The planetary positions were what they were, and the diagram that comes out is fixed before you've told me anything.

So the hour doesn't start with you explaining yourself. It starts with a map that already exists.

The first thing we look at is your type

There are five, and your type describes how your energy meets the world. That single piece explains more of a life than anything else on the page.

If you have a defined Sacral, the gut engine roughly two thirds of people carry, you're built to respond to what shows up rather than to start things from a standing position. If you don't, you're built to run in bursts, or to guide, or to reflect what's around you. Same amount of dignity in each. Very different instructions.

Then your strategy, which is what your type is supposed to do about it. Then your authority, which is where your reliable yes actually lives. For about half of people that's an emotional wave that needs time to settle. For others it's a gut answer that arrives before language does, or a single splenic hit that comes once and doesn't repeat.

Those three, type, strategy, authority, take up most of a first reading, because they're the parts you can put to work immediately.

It's a conversation, not a broadcast

The chart is a map, and I've never met a map that knew the territory better than the person walking it.

So the hour runs as a conversation. I read what the chart says about how you're built to decide and where your energy is reliable. You tell me whether that matches the last two years of your life. Where it lands, we go deeper. Where it doesn't, we say so and move on, because a description that doesn't match your experience hasn't earned any authority over your decisions.

That's the part people tend to find unfamiliar. You're allowed to disagree with your own chart in the room. The reading is better for it.

What you leave with

Not a personality label. Something closer to a working instruction.

You leave knowing your type, your strategy, and your authority, and knowing what each one asks of you in an ordinary week: which decisions to slow down, which to answer from the body, which rooms take more out of you than they should and why.

You'll also leave knowing which parts of your chart to ignore for now. Charts contain a lot of detail, and most of it is not useful until the foundation is running. Gates, channels, the finer wiring: real, but not where anyone should start.

Who this suits

If you've bumped into Human Design and suspect there's something in it but haven't found anyone who can explain it without drifting, this is built for you. Same if you've read the books and want something more grounded than what you found there.

If you want to be told what will happen, I'm the wrong person. A chart describes how you're built. It doesn't predict events, and I won't pretend otherwise.

Where to start

The Written Human Design Analysis is the way in: a structured written breakdown of your chart you can read slowly and return to. If you'd rather have it read aloud with you in the room and your questions answered as they come up, the Personal Basic Reading is sixty minutes, live.

Either way, bring the last hard decision you made. That's usually where the chart starts explaining itself.
